I got GarageBand for my iPhone and iPad, and I've been doing some simple compositions.  I'm really enjoying it (it gives me something to do on the train).  Strangely I kinda like the iPhone GarageBand experience more than the iPad.  Their both limited compared to a real MIDI keyboard, but I think the limitation forces to think about it from more of a compositional point of view instead of a performance point of view.
